Vaidya Farmhouse - Khanapur
The challenge was a steep slopping triangular site and the response to the site situation was terracing it gradually and create the house on 3 levels. The region experiences heavy rainfall and therefore large overhangs with slopping roofs were designed. Most of the construction was done in locally available deccan trap and bricks, even the trees planted were local species. The flooring was rough kadappa and shahabad whereas the ceilings were exposed and painted for protection. This composition provided a unique mix of living with the nature in open with security and comfort, far away from the city.
